Three things to keep in mind.
Film on a phone the way you already do, held or on a stand.

Turn the phone sideways
Hold it landscape, so the playing area fits the shape of the picture.

Zoom so the play fills the screen
The whole court, or as much of the rink or field as the play uses. Higher up is better than closer in.

Nothing in the way
Keep fences, posts, glass reflections and people out of the shot.
